How to write a great driver CV

A driver’s CV is read differently from an office specialist’s: the recruiter first checks licences, then fleet and directions, and only then the rest. Arrange the document in that order and you will pass the first screening in seconds.

Licences — always at the top

• Driving licence categories with dates obtained (e.g. C — 2019, C+E — 2020).
• Code 95 with its expiry date, and your driver card.
• Extras: ADR (basic/tanker), truck-mounted crane, forklift, passenger transport qualifications.
• Medical/psychological certificates — a simple "valid until…" note is enough.

Experience that says something

Instead of "driver at company X", describe what and where you drove: fleet type (curtainsider, reefer, tanker, tipper), directions (domestic, EU — which countries, 3/1 system or weekends at home), cargo types. Add numbers that build trust: years without damage, average annual mileage.

What to avoid

• Generic phrases like "flexible, communicative" with no facts behind them.
• Unexplained gaps — one line such as "break: family care" beats a recruiter’s guesses.
• Holiday photos and decorative templates; in transport, legibility wins.
• A missing GDPR consent clause — without it the company formally cannot process your application.

Quick checklist

• One page, two at most with a long history.
• Current phone and e-mail in the header, plus your town.
• A PDF file named with your first and last name.
• The same facts you enter in your Go4Driver profile — discrepancies surface at the interview.
