How to get your C and C+E licence in Poland

A C+E licence is your ticket to the best-paid jobs in road transport. The path is longer than for a category B licence, but with good planning it takes a few months — and driver shortages mean the investment pays back quickly.

Formal requirements

Category C: age 21 — or 18 if you complete the full initial qualification.
Category C+E: requires category C (C and C+E courses can be combined).
Medical and psychological certificates confirming fitness to work as a driver.
A Driver Candidate Profile (PKK) issued by the local transport department.

Step by step

You start with the medical and psychological examinations, then apply for your PKK. With the PKK number you enrol at a driving school: theory classes plus practical drives. The course ends with an internal exam, followed by the state exam at a WORD centre — theory first, then the manoeuvring yard and a drive in real traffic.

A licence alone is not enough to work professionally: you also need the initial qualification (full or accelerated, depending on age), which ends with code 95 being added to your licence. On top of that comes the driver card for the digital tachograph.
